Hi, my LDR Muslim boyfriend of 4 months blocked me 4 weeks ago in the Middle of Ramadan, I was being to needy at a time when he was supposed to be finding peace ! I didn’t fully understand Ramadan until after I was blocked & started reading in detail ! I understand that girlfriends are not supposed to exist in his faith but we had talked about this & he was adamant we would marry next year ! We are both in our mid 30s so knew when we met we had strong feelings for each other ! I met him on the 1st day of my holiday & we spent 10 days together , when I returned home we spoke everyday & then I went to stay with him this time ! I was staying with him for 7 days in his home 3 of which were when Ramadan started , I respected what he needed to do during this time. The last time we were in contact I made a stupid comment about girls on his Facebook page which he totally misunderstood , his last words were I don’t understand what you talk about then he blocked me on whatsapp, I did the typical girl thing saw red & called his phone to many times (to try & explain) & then he blocked me on his phone , I also sent apologetic Facebook messages which he has only just read (I know this was wrong & acted like a complete lunatic) ! I have sent a letter apologising & a gift to celebrate the end of Ramadan also! I have heard nothing since , Ramadan finished last week & Eid celebrations finished last weekend ! We are not friends on Facebook but I can see everything ,he has no blocks on there, as I said I messaged through Facebook an apology which he only read 3 days ago, I have had no response but he didn’t block me on Facebook ! I am not good at patience & we have laughed together at my lack of it & the fact I want to learn patience a little! Before this we spoke/messaged loads every day, we had great conversation, laughed & the romance was fab ! He is a very busy man works nights & is trying to run his own business in the day , I know I pushed him as I had my own insecurities I was dealing with ! The fact I may have lost him has made me work on these for the last few weeks & I realise just how much I would like a future with this man ! How do I scale the distance he has put between us ? He always said if there was a problem we should talk & we always did ! Help ? Is he done with us ? I have not contacted him for 6 days now & it’s been 3.5 weeks since we last had contact ! Thankyou for your time .

      HI Daisy,

even though you haven’t contacted him, did you start to improve yourself too? Because if not you have to restart the count of no contact.. What do you mean by how you would scale? Because for me it’s either he’s distant or not… right now he is distant..

    Hi Amor,

Me and my bf broke up just 4 days ago. But one month before that he kept his distance from me but we still meet each other and i still texted him. Then after he told me that he wanted this break up because of the relationship is burden and work pressure im quite speechless because one month before he pull back everything seems so fine. Nothing wrong actually. He told me that this was not only his decision but he already asked some of his friends opinon (which really annoyed me) .Since the broke up, i never contact him. I try my best to hide my feelings. But today and i dont even know why, he kept on changing his whatsapp’s status and the most painful part is when he changed the status to one of the most broken heart song to me ! The move on song, and the conclusion of the song just asked for both of us to move on and let go everything. Im quite worried about this. Help me pls.

Thank you Amor really approciate your help

      hi John,

it’s ok if he doesn’t initiate contact…what’s more important is that yiu improve yourself first during nc and that you heal and then you can initiate contact after nc

    Hi,
So I ended up messaging him however he hasn’t responded, I also have no idea if he’s blocked my number and have no idea how to find out, so I don’t know if I should send the message again over Facebook or add him back on snapchat because I don’t know if he purposely ignored the message

I’m thinking of just giving him a little place and wanting for his birthday which is too weeks away to contact him again?

don’t over do it. You’re not his girlfriend. When he said he’s not ready to go back yet, than means you have to avoid pressuring him

      Hi again,
So everything was going well, he’d told me in person at another party that he can’t move on and that he regrets breaking up with me but later on I told him I still had feeling for him and he said he doesn’t know what he wants. I panicked and said he didn’t have to talk to me anymore and he got angry and I tried to apologise but he won’t reply. I don’t know what to do.

Hi Amor, so I ended up being invited to the party he was going to and we spent all night talking to each other pretty much, he said that he misses me and his friends miss me and he’s get back with me, and that he was sad I unfriendly him on fb (so I added him back) and I texted him afterwards asking if he meant it all and he said yes, but I don’t really know what to do now? He isn’t really doing anything about it I guess

      Hi again Amor,
So I ended up messaging him on Facebook like you said ending the message saying “hope you’re doing well” he replied back saying “…as for how i’m doing, it’s not so well but anyway”. I just sent back “I’m sure everything will work out and you’ll be fine in no time!” then he asked if I was going to a mutual friends party on the weekend, turns out I wasn’t invited because he was going. So I just said “No I wasn’t invited” and that was the end of the conversation. I’m assuming these are mostly positive responses so should I wait until after the weekend to message him something else?

I did the NC 30 days and contacted him. Everytime I contacted, he responded. Sometimes he started the conservations first. But the last cons, i felt that he seemed very interested in our cons but then didn’t respond my text. He also posted a status like: .. Afraid of losing my mind. After that he became distans, he doesn’t reply my last text, doesn’t start a cons, not like my photos in FB. What can i do now?

    June 19, 2016 at 2:04 am

Hi Chris and the EBR team,
I really need help. I bought the Ex Boyfriend Recovery Pro and the Texting Bible and read both, but I’m worried it won’t work for my situation. I did all the things i wasn’t supposed to do before I found this website 🙁 The last text I sent him was almost 30 days ago and it was really long and desperate. Our break up was really really bad too. I’ve been working on myself for the past three weeks since that last huge text (which btw he didn’t respond to) and my 30 days is almost up. I want to make the first contact text with him once my NC is up, but the text you guys suggest doesn’t seem to fit with my situation. He hasn’t tried to contact me at all during the NC. I don’t want to stretch the NC any longer because I feel like he’s starting to move on and look at other girls. Also, my NC has been almost 30 days, but he and I haven’t been on good terms for almost three months now and he hasn’t responded to me in almost six weeks. I don’t know if that’ll affect anything. Anyway, I just feel like he’d be even more annoyed or pissed if I just sent a text like “You won’t believe what I just saw…” out of nowhere after my last huge desperate text from 30 days ago. I’m worried he’ll think that I don’t take him seriously, or he’ll think something like “She thinks she can just talk to me, act like nothing happened, and I’ll just start talking to her again?”, get even more pissed and really really not respond. So my question is…is there another type of first contact text I can send that won’t make him think that? I really don’t wanna mess this up…please help! 🙁

    1. Anna

      June 29, 2016 at 10:11 pm

I made the first contact, and surprisingly, he responded!!

His responses were all neutral though and he took quite a while to respond to me 🙁 …but I’m happy that he responded at all and that he didn’t block me. My expectations were really just to not get a negative/no response… I read in the texting bible to give him 2-24 hours of space if he gives a neutral response because it just means he may not be ready to be friendly yet… so that’s what I’m doing now… but what if he keeps giving me neutral responses? How do I get him to give me a positive response?

I didn’t send two texts like I was supposed to… but only because he responded my first text about his favorite tv show with a question about how I was doing, which had nothing to do with what I sent… and I couldn’t just cut off the conversation without answering it. I brought up another topic he was interested in so that he could respond to it, but he responded so neutrally again… I ended the “conversation” by not responding at all…

So what do I do now? I’m not sure I should/can move forward with the other texting strategies like using jealousy texts or bringing up good memories until he responds positively to the first contact texts. What do you think? Should I keep sending first contact texts until he responds to me positively? Will he get annoyed and start giving me negative/no responses? Or can I start using the other strategies too?

that’s right anna.. you can’t use those until you’ve built enough rapport. Try to check what he’s been up to lately, or ask an opinion from him.. if the reply to your next text is neutral again, rest for a week before sending another.

      June 26, 2016 at 4:11 pm

I meant to contact him after 30 days…. But I lost my nerve :*( … So I guess I will do the 45 days after all…

When I found this site and bought the books… I felt so determined and confident in getting my ex back… But I see him on social media and he seems to be moving on just fine without me…. He’s starting to look at other girls… And he seems to be building a life where if I tried to get back in to, I wouldn’t really fit in…

I’m crying again… I’m really losing my nerve… I’ve been working on myself too, trying to make him see that I’m moving on also, trying to become the “ungettable” girl…and I’ve made some progress… But I still don’t think I’ll be attractive or interesting enough for him… :*(

I’m so scared I won’t be able to get him back now… I don’t know… I was so confident and determined before… And now I’m back at square one with my crying and feeling so heartbroken and hopeless and lost…

I’m sorry… I don’t have a question… I guess I just wanted to express my worries to people who can understand… I don’t have any friends who know I’m trying to get my ex back… And if they did know, they wouldn’t approve or understand or support me…

We live in the same city but not in the same household.

I’m not trying to continue the previous relationship. And I don’t plan on stopping my self-improvement activities just because the 30-day NC has ended. I don’t expect him to have positive feelings for me or even trust me just yet. But I do hope that after this NC, he has at least calmed down and has neutral feelings or maybe less negative feelings towards me.

I understand that I have to start a new and improved relationship with him and I’m ready for that. And I understand it’s up to him whether or not he wants to give me the chance to show him I’ve changed for the better.

I will continue the NC if I really have to…but I’m hesitant to do so because Chris said that if we go more than 30 days, that decreases the chance of us getting our ex back. My chances are already low as it is… I don’t want to lower them any more. I’ve gone 30 days without texting him, but he’s gone almost two to three months without really speaking to me or responding to me positively. He hasn’t contacted me at all during my NC, so am I supposed to keep waiting? When do I know he”s calmed down? When do I know he’s forgiven me? When will I know it’s okay for me to make the first contact with him??

And when I do make the first contact with him, I’m worried about not getting a response or worse, getting a negative response, but more importantly, I’m worried that texting him out of nowhere after 30 days saying “You won’t believe what I just saw…” will just make him think I’m trying to sweep everything under the rug and pick up where we left off, which is not what I think or want, because if he thinks that, then my chances of getting him back will decrease even more. I need to know if there is another type of text I can send him without him thinking I don’t take the break up seriously and that I’m really trying to show him a better and new side of me.

Try a more current topic so that it’s natural and then ask how he’s been..like for example,
      if he loves basketball,

      you can try,
Hey, how are you? I remembered how you always said the cavs will won’t win..

try 45 days, that’s most longest we recommend

    6. EBR Team Member: Amor

      June 21, 2016 at 6:47 am

      HI Anna,

I think you need to come from a point of view that you shouldn’t continue the previous relationship.. He has to see that you’ve moved on.. coz I think it’s not realistic to expect that he has more positive feelings for you after all that happened. What needs to happens is for him to forgive you, get calmer, and see that you have moved on to trust starting a friendship with you again. He has to see you attractive too, so you have to continue the activities you started during nc, even after the nc is finished? I think you should even go for 45 days or longer. Do you live in the same place?

    Hi Jojo,

sorry for the late reply.. Basically it looks like you’re good at what texts to send but you have to work on how you end the convos. You can pre-empt him at what you were doing at the start of the text, like what you did in one of your texts, and then say good bye right after the last high point text you end before he replies.
And about jealousy, it’s felt when you’re about to lose someone you like.. Of course I know you know that, I just want to assure you that he’s human, he will feel that. Especially if you’ve been maintaining yourself and you kept improving even after nc.. start to go out more with your other friends and be active in posting it.

when he talks about himself all the time, as in all the time and it’s always all about his feelings not just about what he’s doing, then he is using you as emotional support. But humans always like talking about himself, so use that to your advantage.. be his go to girl to one of his interest, so that he would be interested in you or be interested in it so that he would be willing to share

My ex and I dated for 3.5 years. I was his first gf. I’m 30, he’s 29. We’ve been broken up for 1.5 years. Reason for breaking up was because I wanted to get married and he was unsure. The break up wasn’t bad, but we don’t talk at all. It’s been pretty much 1.5 years NC, although I have attempted to reconnect via 3 texts (one text every 3 months in the first year) but he’s always responded neutrally with no emotions and they always ended the conversation that I was trying to start. It’s been 6 months now since the last time I’ve tried to get in touch, and I want to try again. Over the last 1.5 years, I’ve moved to a new country a year ago, got a new and better paying job, travelled to 10 countries for vacations and I do feel that I have changed a lot and for the better. We are still “fb friends” but it appears he may have restricted my access to his content and he has never tried to get in touch with me. Help me. I need advise.

      Hi Sarah,

it’s been a while since you last contacted him.. what did you say? and if he checks your account, does it seem that you’ve moved on and will he see your improvements? because even though it’s been a long time, you have to start attraction through that first. If he still thinks you’re chasing him, then he probably won’t reply if you text him right away.

    Hi,
I have tried so many of these texting methods, but I have continually failed to get a response. After over a month of no contact we had a short casual conversation but that is about it. I have tried the you’ll never guess what I saw today, texting about things I know he loves, things he introduced me tk… nothing seems to work and I have no idea what is going on in his head.
We had a good, loving relationship but the timing was just really bad. He thinks he has to do everything alone and before he met me said he thought he would be alone because of his career in the service. I really want him to see that he doesn’t have to do it alone but I don’t even know how to go about getting him to just talk to me again.
    Any help/advice would be appreciated.
    Thank you!!

I would say there is a critical flaw somewhere in this program, because nothing whatsoever has worked for me. Reminding him of the good times just made him pissed off for some reason. And I don’t mean to sound pompous or arrogant but I think I have made myself look pretty good in the past few months and I still get stone cold silence from him. I wish it was as simple as no contact and improving yourself but this man is impossible

    2. EBR Team Member: Amor

      June 11, 2016 at 1:45 pm

sorry for the late reply Elle.. well, reminding the good times should only be sent if there’s rapport built and if you’re talking about the first contact text, yeah, it has to depend on the situation.. if it was a toxic relationship or a really bad breakup or if he sees you as a gnat, or if he is in a current relationship, then a first contact text like saying you smiled because you passed by your usual hang out spot can be awkward..

but with all of your improvements and progress, he’s the one who lost a very good person..

    3. Elle

      May 31, 2016 at 3:59 pm

He had various small (things we definitely could have talked about and improved) reasons for ending things, all he could say in the end was “our relationship isn’t working” and that I wouldn’t be able to handle him being gone if/when he would be deployed in the future. We were long distance at the time (about an hour) and it was a stressful time for both of us with finals and me trying to finish my first semester of grad school. I have tried multiple times since the one time he did responded. It was about once a week or less.

    Hi I have a question.
I finished NC after 30 days.
First contact – good response back, 50/50, i ended first
Second contact, was 3 days later, 50/50
Third contact, 3 days later, wished him good luck 50/50
Fourth contact, next day, texted over 2 house, about 30 minute wait inbetween from both sides. He never responded to my last text.

How long should I wait to text him again? And after how many times of me initating contact first before I should wait for him to contact first?

    Thanks,
    Kelly

I have been using the tide theory. We had 2 small convos sinc, me reaching out. Then the last time he never responded. I have followed the eBooks and nothing is working. Im thinking this is a lost cause and that its time I fully accept there is no chance and start to move on.

He ended up texting me a few minutes after I left my first comment. The text was still in reference to my last text I sent him last night. I waited about 30 minutes and then I responded, and several hours later no response. Im thinking I shouldnt of responded, but since it was a new day, I was thinking that maybe he was trying to initaite a converstation first.

I have a LDR situation. I text him on a Sunday with a very quick reply from him about his new job plus, he sent another text about the weather in his hometown that he volunteered to tell me. I ended quickly because I was leaving, like I was supposed to. Then texted him 3 days later with another general question with a very quick response from him. Just don’t know what to do next.

Hi Amor, I have a quick question. I’ve successfully completed the NC (almost 2 months) and I got positive response from him when contacted him again. We have been communicating sporadically over the following months and we even met once, which was nice. Lately he hasn’t replied to my last couple of texts. As 1st of April is approaching I was wondering if an April fools joke could be a good way to get in contact again? It has been almost 3 weeks since my last text.

    hi there,
i am currently in a long distance relationship with my boyfriend we are the ages of 20 and 19. He recently said he thinks maybe we should think about some things and so I asked him if he wants to take time to think about what he wants and makes sure it includes me and talk about it in person when he comes home which is this Thursday. He said he thinks that would be good and the last text I sent him was “talk to you soon” we haven’t talked since. I am losing my mind. Do I wait for him to contact me to talk about things? Please help I need advice.

Do you think I should reach out to him first or just sit tight until he tells me he wants to talk about things?

A relationship talk should best be personal or through a video call if you’re long distance. If it’s first contact, it’s okay if you initiate.

      Hi Janvi,

I think he realized you’re getting serious and clearly he wasn’t. For me if you want to get back with him, you have to be careful that he won’t treat you as a booty call.. have you thought about what style of text you would use?

Hi Amor, I was talking to you on another thread about reaching out to my ex to go get my things (after not talking to him since our breakup almost two months ago). I haven’t reached out yet, just trying to mentally prepare myself for all possible scenarios. What should I do if he does not respond to my text asking if I could stop by to get my things? Should I wait a few hours, a day or a couple of days to text him again? Also would it mean anything in particular if he doesn’t respond. Our break up was not a bad break up as none of us talked down to each other or said hurtful things intentionally, nor yelled at each other, so I know there are no bad feelings on that sense, not to mention he was the one that did the breakup. Would love to get your advice on this. Thanks

Hi Amor, I decided to give him a call and. He didn’t answer so instead of leaving a voicemail I texted him again and told him that I hope everything is ok with him since I did not get a reply. To let me know if tomorrow is a good day for me to get my things and if not to let me know when. He finally texted me a few minutes ago saying that tomorrow won’t be good but next Saturday would be fine. Should I reply now, wait a few hours or text him back tomorrow?

      HI Yd,

SOrry for the late reply. If you’re going to get emotional, that means you’re not ready to meet him. It won’t help if you cry.. he would either get annoyed or pity you and that’s not good. DOn’t overthink because the more you worry, the more you will get emotional.

Hi Amor, I texted my ex today to see if I could pick up my things this Saturday. I still have not heard from him and it’s been almost 7 hours. You said previously I should call him th next day if he doesn’t respond. What should I say? How about if he does not answer my phone call? Should I leave a voicemail or text him again? I don’t understand why this is happening. Why would he be doing this especially since the break up was not an ugly one. Please help me.

I definitely overthink things a lot. I always like to be prepared for anything, even though its not possible to prepare yourself for absolutely everything. I agree there really is no reason for him not to respond unless he is afraid to see me because it would bring back all those feelings he has for me, which is what I am hoping for, for sparks to stat flying when he sees me again after two months of not seeing me. I really hope I get a positive reaction from him. I have another question. How long do you think I should be at his place for? 30 minute, and hour? Thanks

If it was not a bad breakup, there’s no reason for him to not respond.. Don’t overthink, you’ll create problems that are not there..but if he does not respond, call him the next day.. you have the right, coz those are your things
